AMD Ryzen 3800x Review

By my Boss, I was asked to review the AMD Ryzen 3800x.  I honestly had to do a decent amount of research because I am not down pat on what a CPU does.  He is wanting me to determine whether or not this CPU would be a good gamer CPU.  I know the simple stuff like what the CPU is which is the Central Processing Unit, and the clock speed which for this CPU it has a Base Clock speed of 3,900,000,000 GHz which means it processing at 3.9 billion cycles a second.

This CPU is an 8 core processor, or Octo core processor.  The processor core receives instructions from a single computing task, and works with the clock speed to quickly process the information and temporarily store in the Random Access Memory which the acronym to this term would be RAM.  Im glad I finally cleared this up.

So this CPU has 512 KB of L1 Cache, 4 MB of L2 Cache, and 32 MB of L3 Cache.  Cache is a small part of the memory which is apart of the CPU, actually it is closer to the CPU than RAM.  It is used to temporarily hold instructions and data that the CPU is likely to reuse.  So as you can tell this CPU has plenty of storage on the CPU for you being able to download files or play games on. This is all new to me honestly.

So this CPU has 16 threads.  By the research I have done a thread is directly related to a CPU core and is basically just a virtual version of it.  Although many AMD CPU’s use SMT (Surface Mount Technology) related to their threads, many Intel CPU’s use hyperthreading.

Ultimately, this CPU would be a good match for ideally a Business CPU or a Home CPU.  I mean if you want to, you could run this as a low end Gaming CPU but if you dont have to you definitely do not want to.

All in All, I would definitely recommend this CPU for your Business or Home purposes.  It makes a quality CPU for surfing the web or playing small games like coolmath games for example.  If you had to, you could run this as a low end Gaming CPU, but I would not recommend it.

On Newegg.com 83% of users on this site give it 5 eggs which is the highest amount of eggs you can give.

AMD 1st Gen RYZEN Threadripper 1920X

The AMD 1st Gen RYZEN Threadripper 1920X is the fastest more productive CPU out there today. This CPU is the main brain also known as (Central Processing Unit) where all the processing of your computer happens.  The AMD 1st Gen RYZEN Threadripper 1920X has exactly 24 threads that all run at a speed of 3.5 Hz and 4.0 Hz if you overclock.

The AMD 1st Gen RYZEN Threadripper 1920X is one of the best CPUs for its price also known as (bank for Buck). This wonderful CPU Has been bought hundreds of times and still has a good five-star rating as shown below.

the AMD 1st Gen RYZEN Threadripper 1920X has been tested and proven to be one of the best banks for the buck after building and testing for a month.

Intel Celeron G1820 Review

I was asked to review the Intel Celeron G1820. I had to do a good amount of research for this review, because I don’t know anything about CPU’s. The only thing I knew about CPU’s before this blog was the clock speed of them. For instance this CPU’s clock speed is 2.7 GHz. This means that CPU is processing at 2.7 billion cycles per sec.

Image result for cpu cores pic

This CPU is a dual core processor. A core, or CPU core, receives instructions, and perform operations, to fulfill those instructions. This CPU is not hyper threaded which would mean that it would have two threads for every core, but since it is not hyper threaded it only has two threads. One thread per core. As I said before the cores let you perform different operations on them like running an anti-virus in the back ground the threads allow you to split up those cores to be able to run more programs at once.

This CPU has 2MB of L3 cache. From the research I have conducted 2MB is not very good if you are trying to use this for anything more that surfing the internet or watching YouTube videos. Cache is memory on the CPU. Cache located on the CPU it is way faster than RAM since the CPU just talks to itself instead of transferring info between the CPU and the RAM.

As for reviews of this CPU I would say it is about 85% positive 15% negative. I personally would recommend this CPU to you if you are just trying to buy a cheap CPU and only use it for browsing the internet. You definitely wont be using this CPU for any sort of gaming. Unless you trying to play some Cool Math games.

Gaming Motherboard

This gaming motherboard is a great motherboard. I have used this motherboard for all of my  gaming computers and I would tell other people that they should get this motherboard for their gaming computers.

H310M S2H(1.0)

This mother board supports the 8th and 9th generation Intel core processors. The graphic card for this is great. the graphic card that it has is NVIDIA GTX 1060. The graphics are amazing.  This motherboard also has good memory. It has 8GB ram or it can even take more.

This motherboard has high end audio and audio noise guard.  With this high audio it makes you feel like you are in the game. That is something that I love about this so the sounds are realistic.  The cooling fan for this is really good. It works really well and I have never had a problem.

The Back panel has  D-sub, DVI, HDMI, Gaming lan and more as you can see in the picture.

H310M S2H(1.0)

This motherboard boots fast and that is another thing that is awesome about it. It has a lot of unique features to look and read more about it go to https://www.gigabyte.com/us/Motherboard/H310M-S2H-rev-10/sp#sp

Intel i7 8700

So a few days ago, my son said that I could never build a PC (Personal Computer). Well, I told him that I could. I went to the library and got a copy of “PCs For Dummies”, and I learned a lot. So I got my motherboard and case from Newegg.com. All I need to do now is get my CPU. Well, I found one and it is called the Intel i7 8700. This CPU is great and has everything I need.

https://static.lwn.net/images/cpumemory/cpumemory.1.png

So this CPU is apparently a gaming CPU and better than the average home motherboard CPU. It has all the cache on a computer that the person needs. Cache is the memory of the CPU. It has only L3 cache and 12MB (MegaBytes) on it. L3 cache is shared memory with the CPU and the motherboard. What this means is that its memory speed is 12 million cycles per second. This is a great speed for a good quality computer.

Also, This CPU has a socket type of an LGA (Land Grid Array) slot. The socket is for and LGA 1151 (300 series). This is a newer type of socket. That book that I got from the library said that. Aren’t you impressed?

Cores are on this CPU as well. The cores in a CPU are like the “brains” of the CPU. This CPU has 6 cores and 12 threads as well as “Hyperthreading.” This CPU is very amazing.

I looked at the speed of this CPU and its speed is 3.2 GHz (GigaHertz). What that means is that it’s going at 3.2 billion cycles per second. I tell you what, that is fast buddy.

Well, buddy, I hope you understand why I did this. My son doesn’t know what he’s talking about when he says I can’t build computers. What an idiot, but hey, he’s my son so I gotta love him.

The Ryzen 9 3950x

The AMD Ryzen 9 3950x is a fantastic CPU at a moderate price for the performance it can put out. This CPU may be considered a bit pricey for a budget build, but it will ensure future proofing for a school/company that has a decent initial investment budget. The Ryzen 9 3950x currently cost $759. This is a price that is most likely sure to shock any older faculty member who doesn’t understand that while resale value will degrade while over all performance will last many years to come.  I feel able to say this comfortably due to the specs of this CPU. This CPU has a base clock speed of 3.5 GHz and can be boosted to 4.7 GHz. This means that the Rate at witch this CPU can process information can be 4.7 BILLION times a second. To further this, it has 16 cores and 32 threads witch is more than enough for running most any game that is out now and is to come out in the near future. Not only is this a super fast consumer grade CPU it has plenty of cache(memory) to prevent any overbearing work loads from gaming. It has 8 MB L2 cache and 64 MB L3 cache this is more than enough now and for the foreseeable future. This CPU is also rated as the highest performance consumer grade CPU, at its current value by Passmark, a reputable hardware bench marking website. This CPU has a Passmark score of 35693 witch reins supreme above all other CPUs at this price.

Intel Core i5-9600KF Review

The Intel Core i5-9600KF is a relatively inexpensive Intel CPU (Central Processing Unit.)  The CPU is the brains of a PC.  Intel is the oldest, most established maker of CPUs.  This CPU would be great for a gamer PC.  It is a 9th generation processor (the newest models from Intel at the time of posting) and runs at a frequency of  3.7 GHz.

Frequency is the speed at which a CPU handles information.  In this case, the CPU works at 3.7 billion cycles per second.   FYI, that is alot. This CPU ranks at 254 on the PassMark rating, but it’s price and performance make it more than good enough for a gamer PC.

Two other really important things to consider when buying a CPU are computing cores and memory.  The i5-9600KF has 6 cores, meaning it can compute 6 different processes at the same time.  More cores means that more things can be happening in the background without slowing down the overall performance of the system.  The memory on this CPU is 9MB of L3 cache.  This is memory that the cores use while it is handling the processing on the system.  9MB is about mid-range, but will again be sufficient for a gamer PC.

The reviews on this CPU are actually great on NewEgg.  NewEgg gives it 5 eggs(the best possible) and you can read all the reviews by clicking the image below.

I should also note that this CPU will automatically increase its speed to 4.6GHz when needed, this is called the “Turbo” frequency.

This CPU needs to be paired with a motherboard with an LGA1151(300 series) socket.  Any other motherboard type will not work.  It will support DDR4 2666 memory on the motherboard, which will also be a consideration when making related purchases.  Finally, a good CPU cooling solution needs to be purchased for it, this CPU does not come with a stock fan.

I highly recommend this CPU for purchase!  It will make a very responsive gaming system, as well as supporting any other needs (like research and homework.)  It is currently listed for $217.89 at NewEgg and $206.99 at Amazon.  Since the price is less, and shipping is free, I would recommend the purchase at this time from Amazon.

The AMD Ryzen 9 3950X

The AMD Ryzen 9 3950x is a fantastic CPU at a moderate price for the performance it can put out.

The AMD Ryzen 3950x has:

  • 16 cores and 32 threads
  • 8 MB L2 cache and 64 MB L3 cache
  • 3.5 GHz base speed with an boosted speed of 4.7 GHz
  • a Passmark score of 35688
  • a current price of $759 on New Egg.

Comparatively its Intel adversary (spec wise) would be the Intel core i9 9900.

The Intel core i9 9900 has:

  • 8 cores and 16 threads
  • 16 MB of L3 cache
  • 3.1 GHz base speed with a boosted speed of 5.0 GHz
  • a Passmark score of 18720
  • a current price of $781 on New Egg

The Intel core i9 has a little less for a little more with a much worse Passmark score. I believe that of Facts alone and at their respective price points that the Ryzen 9 3950x is one of, if not, the best CPU on the market. If you are going to dish out $700+ on a CPU alone any time soon I would say that spec and price wise this is the CPU for you.
