Gigabyte B550 Gaming X Motherboard Review

A picture of the motherboard

The Gigabyte B550 Gaming X Motherboard is a good motherboard for a price to performance ratio. The motherboard comes at $100 on newegg and offers many capabilities. The motherboard also has support for Ryzen 5000 series and 3rd gen Processors.

It offers plenty of SATA Ports and M.2 Connectors, this allows for plenty of storage when in need. It also has 2 PCIE x16 slots for a good graphics card or 2 if you want to run games even faster. It also has 1 PCIE x 1 slot for a network card or similar. This shows it has a good storage capacity and a good amount of areas for a graphics card.

For 3rd Gen AMD processors it has a native memory speed of 3200MHz and can have overclocked RAM up to 4000MHz. For 5000 series processors it has a native speed of 3200MHz and up to 4733MHz overclocked. This memory speed is incredibly high and it is highly unlikely you will ever use the full extent of it’s speed.

It has a rating of 4 out of 5 eggs on newegg showing it is highly liked.

Rating of Motherboard

The fact that this motherboard can move at a very high speed such as 3200MHz shows it is a good motherboard. Many motherboards do not have this as their native speed and have to overclock to get to this speed. This motherboard comes with many features that make it a suitable motherboard for gaming or for a home pc. This motherboard also comes at a good price compared to some others. It is one of the cheapest motherboards that support AM4 processors. For these reasons I believe this to a be a very good motherboard.

SAMSUNG 870 EVO

SAMSUNG 870 EVO

The Samsung 870 EVO is not a good gaming hard drive. It could not keep up with any gaming that you might want to do. Luckily I am just wanting to use this in a home PC. I do not need a lot of storage or it to be overly fast. This Solid State Drive is a 250GB and connects with a STATA III cable. This SSD is a TLC so it will not last the longest however for what the price it is worth it.

The read/write Speeds can get up to 560 MB/s for the read speeds and the write speeds are around 530 MB/s. This drive would be able to last about 1.5 Million hours is what the Samsung website states.

This SSD is worth the price it is being sold at. On Newegg.com it is being sold at $39.99. It is also this same price on the Samsung website.  I would give this SSD a 5 eggs out of 5 like the other 90% of people that have reviewed this SSD.

SanDisk SSD PLUS Solid State Drive Review

If you are in search of a solid-state drive to speed up your programs and data this SanDisk drive could be a great option for those on a budget. A great drive for anyone who needs to save data or doesn’t trust the clickity clacking sound of doom you may witness from an HDD. SanDisk was somewhat recently bought out by Western Digital. Which, is a very trusted brand in the hard drive business. For this reason, SanDisk may be a reliable option for consumers. Along with reliability, there is a 3-year warranty to go along with the drive.

SSD Specs:

  • 2 TB storage capacity
  • SATA III connection
  • Read speed of 545 Mbps
  • Write speed of 450 Mbps
  • 6 Gbit/s Transfer Rate
  • MLC

Now let’s talk about price. For hard drives, the price usually is lower for an HDD, mid-range for an SSD SATA, and most expensive for an M.2 drive. This is due to the read/write speeds of the hard drives. M.2 drives usually have the fastest speeds of hard drives. While HDD drives usually have the slowest due to their mechanical components slowing them down.

2TB M.2 PCI Drive-Samsung 980 Pro Review

This SSD is a huge step in the advancement of hard drives. It is extremely fast, holds 2TB of data, and lasts a long time. The SSD has a dynamic buffer, which is what allows it to go as fast as it does and last so long. It uses this SLC buffer to put it further ahead of the competition.  The specs are as follows:

  • Size: 2TB
  • M.2 2280 M Key
  • Reads up to 7000 MB/s
  • Writes up to 5100 MB/s
  • It has a dynamic buffer, meaning it adjusts to the size based on workload.
  • 1,200 TBW (Terabytes Written Before Failure)
  • 5 Year Limited Warranty
  • IOPS: 1 Million
  • TLC
  • Although it may not last as long, it makes up for it by having 2TB, which means overall you will likely not use as much.
  • 7,000 MB/s Transfer Speed

This is a great buy if you are looking for something high speed and carrying a lot of data. Personally, I have always gone for Samsung hard drives, it just feels more compatible with everything in my computer. Not to mention a ton of other hard drive creators are terrible at customer service. Overall review: 10/10, a great buy for your PC (especially if you are going to be playing games, things load uber fast!)

Western Digital Black SN850 Review

Western Digital is one of the leading manufacturers of Hard drives and Solid State Drives, which is also the parent company of former companies such as SanDisk and G-Technology. one of their more notable productions of HDD/SSDs is the WD BLACK SN850 Solid State Drive. (picture below)

this SSD comes in capacities varying from 500GB to 2TB, with or without Heatsink. regardless of what combinations you’re looking for, the prices will be anywhere above $100.00 USD.

the specifications vary based on your retailer but are suggested that you look at the official website of the manufacturer’s website (i.e. Western Digital or Seagate) but are listed as follows on the Manufacturer’s site:

HyperX Fury

HyperX Fury 16GB

This stick of memory is good for a business motherboard. When trying to find one that is compatible with my motherboard I found that this one did the job very well. It does what I need it to do as well as having enough extra stuff that just makes it a perfect fit.

What it has is an Aluminum heat spreader so it can spread out the heat so it doesn’t heat up as fast as some other memory might. It is an Intel XMP 2.0 with automatic overclocking as well as it optimized for intel 200 series and X99. Supports AMD X370/ B350/ A320; it is 100% factory tested at speed and free technical support but has no fan included.

The specs for this memory is:

Capacity: 16GB

Type: 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM

Speed: DDR4 2666 (PC4 21300)

CAS Latency: 16

Voltage: 1.20V

ECC: No

Buffered/Registered: Unbuffered

With a price of $93.99, it is not a bad price for what you are getting for a business motherboard. Overall I think that this is a very good memory for what I need it to do.

VENGEANCE® RGB PRO

This memory kit is a good one to have. Personally, I have bought one and sure it destroyed my pockets but I think it was worth it. The quality is like OMG. 🙂

The RGB light bar with 10 integrated LEDs provides diffused lighting, and you get the ability to customize the lighting effects with iCUE. The Vengeance RGB Pro sits in the middle for both price and performance.

You get 4 sticks of 16Gb RAM which totals up to 64Gb

Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory (CMW16GX4M2C3200C16W) - PCPartPicker

Specs:

Type: DDR4

Speed: 3600MHz

CAS Latency: 18

Channels: Quad

Voltage: 1.35V

Overall: I think that this memory kit is good for the price of $579.99 for all those gamers out there who are willing to pay to play.

CORSAIR Vengeance LPX (DDR4 8GB)

This is a great memory that can fit your needs whether you are a gamer on a budget or using it on a home computer. This ram has an anodized aluminum heat spreader to help keep the RAM cool. Along with heat spreaders, there are decent specs of the memory itself.

Specs:

8GB

Speed of 2666

Single Channel

Generation DDR4

1.20V

CL of 16

This memory also has a limited lifetime warranty. As well as, being non-ECC and non-parity. If you are in the market for decent memory with a decent price this should be in your top five for a home pc. However, there is also a decent price for this RAM. Coming in at around $50 on Newegg. Which, makes it highly recommendable to anyone in the market for similar memory.
