Using the Radeon RX 7900 XTX Graphics Card for AutoCAD (+ a monitor)

I use AutoCAD all the time. It is my favorite application on my computer. I really enjoy being able to make technical drawings on it. This is the application on my computer that I use the most out of everything. However, the person I bought this computer from had a terrible graphics card in it. It had rendering delays and the response time was slow, it was just a very cheap graphics card that does NOT work for what I am doing. I HAD to get a new one. Before I get into the card I got specifically for AutoCAD, lets talk about what AutoCAD actually is.

According to CoPilot, “AutoCAD is a computer-aided design (CAD) software application developed by Autodesk. It was first released in December 1982 for the CP/M and IBM PC platforms as a desktop app running on microcomputers with internal graphics controllers. AutoCAD is used by architects, project managers, engineers, graphic designers, city planners, and other professionals to prepare technical drawings. Whether it’s creating 2D floor plans or intricate 3D models, AutoCAD provides a versatile platform for designing and visualizing various projects.” (“Microsoft Copilot Conversation on AutoCAD, 25 Apr. 2024”)

The system requirements are pretty low for my price range. I have a budget of $2,000 that I am willing to spend on a video card. When I first saw these requirements, I was confident that I would find a very good graphics card. That is exactly what I did.

The video card I found is the Radeon RX 7900 XTX. This video card is well under my budget and it is very better than the recommended graphics card. The recommended video card was the Radeon Pro W5500.

The price of the one I got may be doubled, however, it is well worth it. It is a PCIe 4.0 x16 and it is also DirectX 12. Everything on the graphics card that I bought is 70.5% better than the recommended Radeon Pro W5500. All for the price of $899.99.

This graphics card is ranked number 6 on the “High End” list on PassMark. It has a G3D mark of 30,960 which is pretty good.

I also decided to get a new monitor with it considering the fact that my budget was $2,000 and I only spent about $900. Also, the monitor I had originally was not very good. So I did some research and the monitor that I decided on is the Alienware 34 Curved QD-OLED Gaming Monitor. This monitor is 34 inches and the resolution is 3440 x 1440. It has a curved screen and the refresh rate is 175 Hz. It has a response time of 0.1 ms. It comes with 1 HDMI port and 2 display ports. This monitor comes with all of this for the price of $899.99.

With everything new that I got, my AutoCAD experience has been incredible. Especially compared to what it was before I got these new things. The graphics card has been working great and it makes AutoCAD look great too. The monitor that I got with for it also works great and also looks great. I am very happy with everything that I bought and I have no complaints.

Final Fantasy XV and ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4060 Ti OC

“Final Fantasy XV” follows Prince Noctis and his loyal companions on a journey across the vast world of Eos. Tasked with reclaiming his kingdom and fulfilling his destiny as the rightful heir to the throne of Lucis, Noctis must navigate through political intrigue, forge alliances, and confront powerful foes, including the imperial forces of Niflheim and the enigmatic Astrals. Along the way, Noctis and his friends Ignis, Gladiolus, and Prompto form unbreakable bonds, facing personal trials and discovering their true strengths. With a blend of real-time combat, exploration, and emotional storytelling, “Final Fantasy XV” delivers a captivating adventure filled with friendship, sacrifice, and the eternal struggle between light and darkness” (ChatGPT Conversation on Final Fantasy XV. OpenAI, 1 May 2024), This game can be found on Steam for $13.99.

The ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4060 Ti OC Edition Gaming Graphics Card is manufactured by ASUS and features the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti GPU, with a clock speed typically ranging from 2685MHz -2715MHz (OC). and 4352 CUDA Cores It offers 8 GB of GDDR6 video memory operating at around 18 Gbps. The card utilizes a PCIe 4.0 x16 interface and requires at least a 650-watt power supply with its 160 TPD. Cooling is managed by ASUS’s advanced cooling solution with three fans and RGB lighting. It supports DirectX 12 and OpenGL 4.6 APIs and achieves a Passmark score of 22,898 placing it among the top-tier GPUs available at a rank of 34. I found this card at $496.44 on Newegg.

Playing Final Fantasy XV with this card was no problem, being able to play in 1440p with relatively high FPS gave this game the ultimate experience I wanted. For $496.44 for this brand new graphics card, I think it’s a relatively good deal having all the VRAM I need with three cooling fans to keep the card at good temperatures as well as having the RGB option to keep the aesthetics of my PC looking sweet. I think this card is great if you’re looking for something that doesn’t consume a whole lot of power, but still can play any game in 1080p and even 1440p in some cases with ease. I am thrilled with the setup I have now and don’t regret buying the card one bit. Would recommend this card to anyone, have a great day!

My Fortnite Experience

I am an avid Fortnite player and love the game, but my PC was recently ruined by my little brother and I had to start from scratch with a donated PC. First of all, for you newbies, what is Fortnite? According to CoPilot, “Fortnite is a trendsetting multiplayer online battle royale game developed by Epic Games. In this intense survival experience, players drop onto an island map alongside 99 other competitors. The goal? To be the last person standing. As you explore the island, you’ll scavenge for weapons, gear, and resources while constantly navigating shrinking safe zones. What sets Fortnite apart is its unique building mechanics: you can construct structures—towers, walls, and more—to defend yourself or gain tactical advantages. Whether you prefer solo play or teaming up with friends, Fortnite offers various modes, including Duos, Trios, Squads, and even a building-focused Team Rumble. So, whether you’re a seasoned player or a newcomer, Fortnite’s dynamic gameplay and ever-evolving world await!” (“Microsoft Copilot Conversation on Fortnite,” 22 Apr. 2024)

The system requirements of Fortnite are relatively low, thankfully. The replacement PC I have has the recommended specs for the CPU but has no GPU, and I only have $150 to meet the recommended GTX 660. I opted for the GeForce 1650, which is the best I could find in my price range.

PNY GeForce® GTX 1650 for $149.99

The PNY GTX1650 is 49% better than the recommended GTX 660. While this video card is only ranked 258 on the passmark rating, it will easily play FortNite.

The GTX1650 GPU is made by Nvidia and has a 1410MHz core clock with 896 CUDA cores. The 4GB od GDDR6 runs at a bandwidth of 192GB/s.

The PCIe interface is slightly older and is PCIe 3.0 with APIs still supporting DX12 and OpenGL4.6. It only pulls 75 Watts of power and has a single 6-pin power connector. It has a DVI, HDMI, and Displayport outputs and takes 2 slot spots on the back of my PC.
Overall my new setup seems to be playing Fortnite again very well. I am far enough over the recommended settings, even at my $150 budget, that the experience has me back on the leaderboard.

Still Budget Friendly, a Look at the PowerColor Red Devil. Radeon RX 570

<![CDATA[

So you want to buy a graphics card for your child or friend, but you don’t want to put a large dent in your wallet. AMD’s RX 570, more specifically PowerColor’s famous Red Devil Lineup, has got you covered. The card is cooled by 3 fans, cutting it down from a bulky triple slot to a dual slot card. The card is 310mm long, making it unable to fit in much smaller cases.

The PowerColor Red Devil comes with 4GB of GDDR5 VRAM, plenty to start off any budget gaming PC without needing to rely on the struggle of integrated graphics. The rear ports come with DVI-D, HDMI, and 3 DisplayPorts. The card supports AMD CrossFire, where you get 2 GPUs and connect them with a CrossFire Bridge. This would generally give a boost in performance. However, one would need a CrossFire Supported Motherboard to get the full use of it. It supports both DirectX 12 and OpenGL 4.5. The card has a max resolution up to 4k if you use either the HDMI or DisplayPort, with the DVI only being able to support 2560×1600. More details about this card can be found on PowerColor’s website.

Price/Conclusion

With a price of $139.99 the card is the best choice for getting the best performance for your money. The Card is almost a must-have for wanting to game on a budget.
