Intel Celeron G1820 Review

I was asked to review the Intel Celeron G1820. I had to do a good amount of research for this review, because I don’t know anything about CPU’s. The only thing I knew about CPU’s before this blog was the clock speed of them. For instance this CPU’s clock speed is 2.7 GHz. This means that CPU is processing at 2.7 billion cycles per sec.

This CPU is a dual core processor. A core, or CPU core, receives instructions, and perform operations, to fulfill those instructions. This CPU is not hyper threaded which would mean that it would have two threads for every core, but since it is not hyper threaded it only has two threads. One thread per core. As I said before the cores let you perform different operations on them like running an anti-virus in the back ground the threads allow you to split up those cores to be able to run more programs at once.

This CPU has 2MB of L3 cache. From the research I have conducted 2MB is not very good if you are trying to use this for anything more that surfing the internet or watching YouTube videos. Cache is memory on the CPU. Cache located on the CPU it is way faster than RAM since the CPU just talks to itself instead of transferring info between the CPU and the RAM.

As for reviews of this CPU I would say it is about 85% positive 15% negative. I personally would recommend this CPU to you if you are just trying to buy a cheap CPU and only use it for browsing the internet. You definitely wont be using this CPU for any sort of gaming. Unless you trying to play some Cool Math games.

Intel Celeron G1820

Intel is a multinational technology company. Their headquarters is located in Santa Clara, CA. Intel is usually regarded as having better CPU’s than their competitor AMD but you have to pay a lot more money. The Intel Celeron G1820 is a good and bad example of this.

The Intel Celeron G1820 is the cheapest CPU that I could find that was supported by my motherboard. The Intel Celeron G1820 is a horrible CPU for the price. On Amazon this CPU goes for about $60 for a new one, but the bench score from PassMark is 2132. This is a low score for the price. You can buy an AMD CPU for the same price and it will have double this score.

CPU Specs

  • Socket Type- 1150
  • Clock Speed-2.7 GHz
  • # Cores/Threads
  • Type of Cache- 2MB Intel Smart

I would recommend this CPU if you have an older motherboard that it is compatible with, and you are only looking to use it for surfing the web. It is not something you would want to buy if you are trying to

PS. I was informed that I was gravely mistaken for recommending this CPU because Celeron stands for( Craperon). As of now I do not recommend this CPU.

MSI B85-G41 PC Mate

This review is on the MSI B85- G41 PC Mate. The MSI B85-G41 PC Mate motherboard is perfect for any at home activities including surfing the web and more. You would buy this motherboard to put in your Grandma’s PC so she can get on google. This motherboard is on the older side so if you are looking for a good gaming motherboard this motherboard is not the best option out there. This motherboard goes for about $79 on (www.newegg.com) .

Specifications:

  • Intel® B85 Express Chipset
  • DDR3 1066/1333/1600 MHz
  • 32 GB Memory
  • Duel Memory Channel
  • 2 PCI-Ex16 slots
  • 2 PCI-Ex1 slots
  • 2 PCI slots
  • 4xSATAIII
  • 2xSATAII

Rear Panel:

  • 1xRJ-45 Connector
  • 2xUSB 3.0 PORTS
  • 4xUSB 2.0 PORTS
  • 3xAUDIO PORTS

  • 1xHDMI
  • 1xDVI

I personally would not recommend this motherboard to anyone. After reading reviews from Amazon, Newegg ,and a few other sites it seems to have a few problems. Also this motherboard is old it supports 4th Gen Intel CPU’s for a motherboard this old to still be $79 dollars is kind of ridiculous. It also takes DDR3 RAM which is outdated and much slower than DDR4 RAM. So as I stated before I would not recommend this motherboard to anyone.
