Samsung 860 EVO Series 250GB SSD Review

<![CDATA[I am going to be reviewing the Samsung 860 EVO Series 250GB solid state drive. I purchased the SSD for my home motherboard which was the ASUS Prime B2-50 Plus motherboard. I think the solid state drive was a quality lower end option that exceeded my expectations and did not break the bank!

I love using Samsung products so I had no doubt that the Samsung 860 EVO Series SSD would be a great fit. Samsung was founded on March 1, 1938 by Lee Byung-chul. Their headquarters are located in Seoul, South Korea and as of 2016 Samsung had the 6th highest brand value in the world (Wikipedia).

The solid state drive can run for up to 1.5 million hours. This is a long time. When installing the Samsung 860 EVO Series SSD it was a breeze. The installation disk was not needed during the time of setup. Overall, it made my computer 1-2 times faster after installing the SDD. The solid state drive also has 3D NAND memory components.

Specifications:

  • Speed: 550 MB/s read and 520 MB/s write
  • Size: 250 GB
  • Input/ Output per Second: up to 90,000 IOPS write and 98,000 IOPS read
  • Transfer Rate: 6Gb/s
  • SLC/MLC/TLS: 3 bit MLC (Since it is MLC it means that it is doubled the amount of bits per cell)

I would recommend the Samsung 860 EVO Series 250GB SSD for anyone looking to purchase a lower end solid state drive for a home motherboard. The drive met all of my computers needs in order to make it run faster and more efficient. It also had a lower power consumption, used for cooling and speed. The total cost of the solid state drive on Newegg was $94.99. This is not a bad price for the specs you are gaining for your PC. Although there is probably a cheaper option you could find through research, the Samsung 860 EVO Series 250GB SSD was a great option that will not disappoint!

Patriot Viper Elite 4GB Memory Review

<![CDATA[Patriot Memory designs, manufactures and markets high performance memory modules, flash memory, mobile accessories and gaming equipment. The headquarters for the company is located in Fremont, California. Patriot Memory takes pride in memory. The process begins with using high-quality components and ends with rigorous functional testing to ensure each module is reliable and compatible (Wikipedia).
I am going to be reviewing the Patriot Viper Elite 4Gb memory stick. I used this memory on my home motherboard which was the ASUS Prime B2-50 Plus Motherboard.
I think that the memory was overall a good fit for the motherboard. The Viper Elite series provides the best performance and stability for the most demanding computer environments. The colors of the heat sinks can be red, blue, or grey. Patriot’s Viper Elite series is offered in dual channel kits and quad channel kits, at speeds from 2400MHz up to 3200MHz (Patriot Memory).

Specifications:

    • CAS Latency: 16
    • Type: 288-pin DDR4 SDRAM
    • Access Time: 6.6 Nano Seconds
    • Channels: Dual Channel
    • Bandwidth: 19,200
    • Parity v. non-parity: Non- Parity

Overall, I think that the Patriot Viper Elite 4Gb memory stick was a great fit for my motherboard. Not only does the memory have a lot of great features, but it only cost $52.99 which makes it a very affordable option (Newegg). I would recommend the Patriot Viper Elite 4Gb memory stick to anyone who was looking for a cheap option for a home motherboard.

Core i7-7700K Kaby Lake 7th Generation Review

<![CDATA[

Intel is one of the only two companies to sell processors, and they have a variety of choices to choose from. I am going be reviewing the Core i7-7700K Kaby Lake 7th generation central processing unit. The CPU costs $289.99 on Newegg. Overall, the processor is very effective and has a low margin for error.

Intel was founded in July 1968 by Robert Noyce and Gordon Moore. The Intel headquarters are located in Santa Clara, California. Although Intel is most commonly known for processors, some of their other products include motherboard chip sets, flash memory, graphic chips, embedded processors, and network interface controllers (Wikipedia).
I think that Intel’s Core i7-7700K Kaby Lake is a highly impressive processor. The most advanced silicon makes the processor one of the best high-end choices. The CPU typically has higher overclocking abilities making it a great choice for gaming and the better performance.
Specifications:

  • CPU Clock Speed- 4.2 GHz
  • Socket Type- LGA 1151
  • Number of cores- quad-core
  • Cache- L1: 4 x 32 data, 4 x 32 instruction
    • L2: 4 x 256 KB
    • L3: 8 MB

On Passmark, the Core i7-7700K Kaby Lake has an overall rank of 12,101. It is the highest speed of similar CPU’s. According to Passmark the processor is third highest in value and highest in the Intel selection. The CPU has a low margin for error.
Overall, I would recommend the the Intel Core i7-7700K Kaby Lake processor to anyone looking for a fast, new CPU. It is very sufficient for gaming and any other activities you may want to preform on your computer. Although the processor is quite pricey, you do get a lot for your money.

ASUS Prime X299-Deluxe Motherboard Review

<![CDATA[This review will be about the ASUS X299-Deluxe motherboard. This motherboard is a great high-end motherboard option. On Newegg, you can purchase this gaming option for $479.99. The motherboard is designed for 7th generation LGA2066 socket Intel Core X-Series processors to maximize connectivity and speed (ASUS). The ASUS Prime X299- Deluxe has an ATX form factor.
The ASUS Prime X299-Deluxe motherboard is made by the number one motherboard brand in the world. ASUS was founded in 1989 and has since has made over 500 million motherboards, and been named the best motherboard brand for 6 consecutive years (Wikipedia). Because the motherboard is coming from a high-end company, you can assure that it is reliable and working to the best of your needs.

Specifications:

  • Native motherboard speed of 2666 MHz
  • Video (Supported only by CPU with integrated graphic)
  • Integrated Audio (Realtek ALC S1220A, 8 channels)
  • Integrated LAN (Intel I219-V)/ Second LAN (Intel I211-AT)
  • 3 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16 (x16, x16/x16, x16/x16/x8)
  • 2 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16 (max at x4 mode) *1
  • 3 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16 ( x16, x16/x8, x16/x8/x4)
  • 2 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16 (max at x4 mode) *1
  • 3 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16 (x16, x8/x8, x8/x8/x1)
  • 2 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16 (max at x4 mode) *1
  • DDR4 memory that supports up to 128GB

The ASUS Prime X299-deluxe motherboard is not only a great option for a high-end gaming system, but it could also work as a business motherboard if you needed it to. I recommend this option not because of the price but because of all of the high-end components this motherboard has to offer. The ASUS Prime X299-Deluxe has metal framing for a stronger and more reliable structure. It also has the industry leading audio and video (Newegg). ASUS has led me to believe that this motherboard has no cons. Although the price of this motherboard is pretty steep, it is hard to find one that does and has as much as the ASUS Prime X299-Deluxe for cheaper. If you want a high-end gaming motherboard, then the ASUS Prime X299-Deluxe is the motherboard for you!
