Western Digital Black Hard Drive – Review

<![CDATA[Western Digital is an American computer data storage company. The headquarters are located in San Jose, California. The company was founded in 1970 by Alvin B. Phillips. They bring in about 19 billion dollars a year. While they employee about 80,000 people. They produce hard disk drives, hybrid drives, and also solid state drives.

Recently I bought a new hard disk drive for my ASUS ROG ZENITH motherboard. I chose Western Digital due to good reviews read online. I got the WD Black 6TB, the reviews I read online were great. The reviews and specifications I read online were phenomenal and I could not wait for it to arrive via mail. Upon delivery the package looked a little more on the rough side. The price for this specific HDD was $246.99. The price per gigabyte was approximately six cents.

As I connected it into my PC tower things went very smooth. There was no damage done to the actual product itself. I booted up my PC everything seemed to be working fine. I logged on and continued to put my HDD to the test.
Specs:

  • Size: 6Tb
  • Price: $246.99
  • Interface: SATA 6Gb/s
  • Transfer Rate: 227 MB/s
  • MTBF: 1.5 million hours
  • Warranty: 5 years
  • Access Time: N/A
  • Speed: 7200RPM
  • Buffer Size: 128 MB

Overall my experience with this HDD was fantastic and I highly recommend to those who are looking for something that has a great amount of storage as well as a HDD that does not have a high failure rate.
NOTE: THIS IS A REVIEW FOR A CLASSROOM PROJECT

G. SKILL RIPJAWS X SERIES Memory

<![CDATA[G. SKILL is a Taiwanese computer hardware manufacturing company. The company targets customers whom are overclocking computer users. The company is known for their memory aka RAM. The company was founded in 1989 by a group of computer enthusiasts. My most recent purchase was the fastest memory for my business PC.
My business PC is the ASUS A68HM-E the fast memory I discovered was the RIPJAWS X SERIES.

This memory makes my whole entire PC run so much faster. Overall everything looks and runs phenomenally. The stylish heat spreader design but keeps it very cool. This memory is DDR3 1866MHz that delivers up to 14.9Gbps per channel to allow the PC to run at whopping speeds. I am not the only one who has seen great things from this product. Irma Z. states that “Pros: Cheap, Fast, & Reliable Cons: None Other Thoughts: Would buy again with no questions”, many other review read the same (Newegg)
Specifications:

  • The memory is 4 GB
  • Type – 240 pin DDR3
  • DDR3 1866
  • CAS Latency – 9
  • NON ECC (Does not error check)
  • Non Parity
  • Bandwidth – 14,900 MB/s
  • Single channel
  • Access time – 4.8231 nano second
  • Warranty – Lifetime

I definitely recommend this memory, it worked so well with my motherboard. It is not very costly paying in at a $46.99. RIPJAWS X Series provides an excellence performance at a low price.

AMD sTR4 Threadripper Series CPU – Review

<![CDATA[Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) is a semiconductor business that is famous for microprocessors. They were founded May 1, 1969 by many men. They have operations in 31 countries with over 50 locations (AMD). They also produce motherboard chip sets, graphic processors and more. The main headquarters is located in Sunnyvale, California but will be moving to Santa Clara through the year of 2018 (Weinstein).

The AMD Ryzen Threadripper Series CPU is more of a gaming processing unit and it more expensive than most. It is on newegg for $549.99. As I was searching through newegg looking for the cheapest CPU for the ROG ZENITH EXTREME motherboard. The CPU for this motherboard is the only option. It is such a great CPU. Once I read more about it I thought to myself “I need this CPU for my motherboard.” The only downside to this CPU is the size of it. It is very large to meet all the computing needs. As you can see in the following photo it is much larger than the average CPU type.

I have been in the process of building my own motherboard for a month or so. It has taken some time to settle on the ASUS ROG ZENITH EXTREME. I got everything ordered about a week and a half ago and it finally got here two days ago!
Here are some specifications for the best CPU for this recommended motherboard.
Specifications:

  • Clock Speed – 3.8GHz
    • Turbo – 4.0 GHz
  • Socket – sTR4
  • Cache
    • L1 Cache – 768 KB
    • L2 Cache – 4 MB
    • L3 Cache – 16 MB
  • 8 Core
    • 16 Threads
  • Passmark – Ranking is 16,416

This CPU is clearly for gaming purposes, once I got it all hooked up and got everything running it booted it up. The graphics were so much better than my last PC/motherboard was. I noticed no lagging, and how much faster everything ran. I did not experience any problems. Overall I highly recommend this CPU! Remember I used it on the ROG ZENITH EXTREME motherboard. I had no problems at all, it ran fast, and the graphics were great and did not lag.
