Looking back at these specifications, this is a pretty good hard drive. The size is big and it can last a long time. That 1.5 million hours transfers to a lot of years. This is a very good choice for someone looking for a big hard drive that will last them years in the long run. Note: This review is part of a classroom project.

<![CDATA[Western Digital is an American computer data storage company. The headquarters are located in San Jose, California. The company was founded in 1970 by Alvin B. Phillips. They bring in about 19 billion dollars a year. While they employee about 80,000 people. They produce hard disk drives, hybrid drives, and also solid state drives.
Recently I bought a new hard disk drive for my ASUS ROG ZENITH motherboard. I chose Western Digital due to good reviews read online. I got the WD Black 6TB, the reviews I read online were great. The reviews and specifications I read online were phenomenal and I could not wait for it to arrive via mail. Upon delivery the package looked a little more on the rough side. The price for this specific HDD was $246.99. The price per gigabyte was approximately six cents.
As I connected it into my PC tower things went very smooth. There was no damage done to the actual product itself. I booted up my PC everything seemed to be working fine. I logged on and continued to put my HDD to the test. Specs:
Size: 6Tb
Price: $246.99
Interface: SATA 6Gb/s
Transfer Rate: 227 MB/s
MTBF: 1.5 million hours
Warranty: 5 years
Access Time: N/A
Speed: 7200RPM
Buffer Size: 128 MB
Overall my experience with this HDD was fantastic and I highly recommend to those who are looking for something that has a great amount of storage as well as a HDD that does not have a high failure rate. NOTE: THIS IS A REVIEW FOR A CLASSROOM PROJECT REFERENCES:

<![CDATA[This is my review if the Samsung 860 EVO. I bought this on Newegg for around $150. Though it is not very inexpensive, this is a quality solid state drive. I believe I got my money’s worth. I have yet to have any problems though I have only been using this specific SSD for a few months.
When buying SSDs, I always go to Samsung. I have been buying from them for years and have yet to be disappointed. Here is a little info on the company: Samsung was founded by Lee Byung-Chul in 1938. Their current headquarters is in Samsung Town, Seoul, South Korean. As of 2017, Samsung has the 6th highest global brand value. (Samsung Wiki)
Warning: I will be using my ASUS Prime B350M-A/CSM to test this product. I use this specific motherboard for business so results may differ when using a gamer or home motherboard. Benchmarks:
Size: 500 Gb
Read speed: 550 MB/s
write speed: 520 MB/s
Read IOPS: 98,000 IOPS
Write IOPS: 90,000 IOPS
MLC
MTBF: 1.5 Million Hours Reliability
Warranty: 5 years
2.5″
Memory Components: 3D NAND
I was expecting great things from this SSD because I have always had a great experience with Samsung. I was correct in my expectations as this SSD blew me out of the water. The installation was easy I did not even need to use the installation disk. It made my computer 2-3 times faster and I would highly recommend. The only item that could be considered a problem is the price. I feel as though this is a fair price for the speed that was acquired but with some research, one might be able to find an SSD just as reliable for a more affordable price. Again I used my ASUS business motherboard for this test. Different problems could occur using a home or gaming motherboard. I would highly recommend this SSD for its speed alone and lack of problems. I was expecting greatness from Samsung, but they have outdone themselves this time.
<![CDATA[Mushkin is a competitor in memory and SSD drives, as both of the two mostly are similar. Mushkin was founded in 1994 in Denver, Colorado, In the United States. Mushkin produces Memory modules, or RAM, Solid state drives, power supplies and other small quantities of components to computers, but usually source Memory and SSD.
The motherboard that will use the Mushkin SDD drive is the ASUS TUF SABERTOOTH Z170 MARK 1, which it is compatible for 6Gb/s and has 8 Sata ports, in which the SSD provided from Mushkin is compatible to this motherboard.
I have received a Mushkin SSD 1TBDrive which has a storage of 1TB. The Mushkin SSD also is a MLC meaning that it doubles on writes on each cell. Usually, MLC is better on terms of life span than a TLC and it is more common and cheaper than a SLC meaning that it will have a long lifespan, and countless amounts of rewrites to the SSD. The max sequential read up to 560 MBps while the max sequential write up to 460 MBps which is fast read and write speeds for a 1TBdrive. The IOP’s for Write is around IOPS to 289.0625 Mbps and for the reading of IOPS is 296.875 Mbps. The MTBF of in other terms the average time until the drive fails is on average 1,500,000 hours. With the warranty of only a year, one year to have parts and labor with the ability to turn it back for a new one. The amount of features spans to temperature sensors and that of MLC Flash for a reliable SSD The price of the Mushkin 1Tb SSD is 249.99. Mushkin I would say has done a fair job on the product today, and seems reliable for a 1TB drive

The type of motherboard we are wanting to get a Hard Drive for, is a business motherboard, from Gigabyte. It has two 3Gbs SATA connectors and six 6Gbs SATA connectors. I was asked to present a 1-2TB SATA Hard Drive.
TOSHIBA P300 Internal Hard Drive
Capacity: 2TB
RPM: 7200
Latency: 4.17mls
Buffer: 64MB
MTBF: 1,500,000
Warranty: Limited 2yr parts, and labor.
Cost: $74.99
This Hard Drive is amazing for it’s price. It is difficult to find a Hard Drive with the capacity of this, at such a low price. I am actually using this one to build my computer, just because it is so cost efficient. It’s RPM is really good also, and I would recommend this for any computer, that you wanted to have a good 2TB Hard Drive.

The motherboard that this hard drive will be working with is the MSI 970 Gaming Motherboard. The motherboard has 10 x SATA 6 Gb/s ports and can support up to RAID 0/1/5/10 modes. This hard drive has 2TB of storage with transfer rates up to 140 MB/s and the drive also has 64MB of cache. The rotational speed is 5400 RPM and the read/write speeds are 150 MB/s. The form factor of this drive is a 3.5in and has a 2 year warranty of parts and labor. There are obviously pros and cons for this drive, but the Pros overpowers the cons by far. Also, the price is fairly low with a price of $69.97 and is a very good drive in my opinion for the price.

<![CDATA[OCZ Technology was started in 2002 and produced RAM, video cards, and USB drives. They filed for bankruptcy in 2014 and they were bought by Toshiba. They are now called OCZ Storage Solutions and they now sell high performance solid state drives (SSD).
I am reviewing the OCZ Z-Drive R2 m84 solid state drive. This SSD is priced for $1,299.88 on Newegg.com. I think this SSD isn’t worth the cost even though the max read and max write is very fast compared to other 1 TB SSD’s but the IOPS speed on the 4KB random read/write is very low. It is different from most other SSD’s because it uses a PCI-Express slot instead of a SATA connector which could allow for different builds.
Here are the OCZ Z-drive R2 m84 specifications:
Form Factor:
PCI-Express
Size:
1 TB (Terabyte)
Max Read:
800 MB/s
Max Write:
750 MB/s
4KB Random Read:
29,000 IOPS (113 MB/s)
4KB Random Write:
7,700 IOPS (30 MB/s)
Sustained Write:
500 MB/s
MTBF: (Mean Time Between Failure)
1 million hours
This SSD has its pros and cons but I think that it is too expensive for what you are getting because you can get a Samsung 840 EVO for $599.48 on newegg.com and it has faster IOPS by a lot but its max read and write is slower but it is half the price. The OCZ’s price per gigabyte is $1.29 and the Samsung is only $.59 a gigabyte which is a lot less expensive. I wouldn’t recommend this product because of its price per gigabyte and its IOPS are lower than most other 1TB SSD’s.]]>
<![CDATA[ Samsung, the company who fights with Apple, and dominates many markets and industries. They are versatile and well-known, leading electronics in our modern day. The Samsung 850 Evo (not the pro version) Solid State Drive is one of their best and leading products in the Solid State Drive market. Though their selection comes in many forms and sizes, I will be discussing their 2.5″ model and over-viewing the companies long and strong history and background.
Company Background and Sales
Samsung started off in 1938 as a trading company by Lee Byung-chul. Today, with almost a half of a million employees Samsung generates an annual $305 billion US dollars. When considering if Samsung is a trusted and well established company, the only answer you can give is: YES. Samsung has reached the far spectrum of an array of industries, making refrigerators, skyscrapers, ships, TV’s, and an abundance of smartphones, hoping to beat Apple in it’s competitive technological race. Samsung has built the tallest building in the world, is made up of 80 separate businesses, and has more employees than Microsoft and Apple combined. Samsung is the best of the best, and will likely amaze you with it’s performance.

Recommended Computer:
When deciding if the 850 EVO is right for you, you must think big when it comes to capacity. The EVO is great for servers, but if you are running the EVO for simple performance or gaming, size may matter. If you have determined the 2.5″ internal SSD drive is right for you, then you must now decide what you will be putting on the drive itself. Solid State Drives significantly increase the speed of booting your PC if your operating is installed on it. Programs will open faster, and you will notice the entire system will seem to run smoother, faster, and cleaner. The only downside to this the price of Solid State Drives, though getting better, is still fairly high. An SSD won’t hold as much as a Hard Disk Drive, a spinning disk that is more likely to crash or fail with it’s many moving parts. That doesn’t mean that you can’t integrate both into your system, but must know what files will go where and how you will be configuring your usage.
Let’s talk what you need, before what you can afford. If you expect to only be using your computer for basic online use, such as checking emails or opening a word processor once in a great while, a basic 250GB SSD or less will not cost as much as a 1TB, and as long as you are not downloading a major amount of files, videos and pictures, overloading your storage space, you will do fine.
If working for business more, this or higher models will work wonderfully for you, and if considering gaming, just know what sort of games you will be looking to play, and what you intend on using separately. The larger the capacity the more you can store, and depending on your setup, the faster some things will run.
If interested in the 2.5″ 250GB model, you are making a choice that is almost in the middle of a perfect low-end gaming, to business PC; an excellent choice for a faster machine!
Overall:
Samsung is a company worth investing some money in. Their products are top of the line with guaranteed performance.

Conclusion:
If you were to buy this Solid State Drive, compared to other hard drives or even solid state drives you are paying more for the gigabytes. While this SSD is a little on the expensive side compared to the capacity, Solid States Drives are mostly more expensive than a basic hard drive. This drive can be purchased on newegg here.
