{"id":1104,"date":"2016-10-18T19:40:50","date_gmt":"2016-10-18T19:40:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wordpress.nationaltrail.k12.oh.us\/ittech\/?p=1104"},"modified":"2016-10-18T19:40:50","modified_gmt":"2016-10-18T19:40:50","slug":"windows-server-remote-desktop-services-role","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wordpress.nationaltrail.k12.oh.us\/ittech\/2016\/10\/18\/windows-server-remote-desktop-services-role\/","title":{"rendered":"Windows Server 2016 RDS Client Server"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t&lt;![CDATA[<strong>Windows Server 2016 : Remote Desktop Services<\/strong><br \/>\nThis guide will walk you through how to setup Remote Desktop Session Host on Server 2016. \u00a0Our application of this role is to provide a central connection server for thin client users. \u00a0There are two parts of this guide, the licensing server and connection server. \u00a0This guide covers the connection server, and assumes you have already setup a licensing server named &#8220;TRAIL5&#8221;.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Connection Server<\/strong><br \/>\nAfter creating a new Windows Server 2016 server, open the server dashboard and add &#8220;Remote Desktop Services&#8221;. <em>(figure 1-1)<\/em><br \/>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1105\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1105\" style=\"width: 149px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/wordpress.nationaltrail.k12.oh.us\/ittech\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/10\/2.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1105 \" src=\"http:\/\/wordpress.nationaltrail.k12.oh.us\/ittech\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/10\/2-150x150.png\" alt=\"figure 1-1\" width=\"149\" height=\"149\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1105\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">figure 1-1<\/figcaption><\/figure><br \/>\nContinue through the wizard by clicking next, without adding features. \u00a0The next screen will display role services for remote desktop services. \u00a0Add &#8220;Remote Desktop Gateway&#8221; and &#8220;Remote Desktop Session Host&#8221; and then finish the wizard. <em>(figure 1-2)<\/em><br \/>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1106\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1106\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/wordpress.nationaltrail.k12.oh.us\/ittech\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/10\/4.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-1106\" src=\"http:\/\/wordpress.nationaltrail.k12.oh.us\/ittech\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/10\/4-150x150.png\" alt=\"figure 1-2\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1106\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">figure 1-2<\/figcaption><\/figure><br \/>\nAfter Installation completes, restart the server as required. \u00a0Once restart has completed, create a group policy to define the licensing information. \u00a0This can be achieved on the local machine by running &#8220;gpedit.msc&#8221; or by creating a group policy object applied to the container in which this server resides. \u00a0Local policy can be applied at the following path: Local Computer Policy\u00a0&gt; Computer Configuration &gt;
