The hard drive that I will be reviewing today is called the Black Series WD4003FZEX. It is a SATA III drive which means it’s the latest generation for newer motherboards and that it transfers data at 6.0 Gb/s. The hard drive can also store up to 4 TB of storage, that is massive for storing games, music, or anything else your heart could possibly desire! I will sum up the specs but you can find them more in-depth here.

Western-DigitalThis review is for both the Western Digital WD Green WD40EZRX and the Western Digital  Western Digital Black² WD1001X06XDTL. These Hard drives would best be used for business or gaming use. Game users would be perfectly content with how these hard drives perform.

Western Digital Corporation is one of the largest computer hard disk drive manufacturers in the world. Western Digital was founded in April, 1970 and its headquarters are in Irvine, California. They employ over 96,000 people and their annual revenue in 2013 was around US$ 15.40 billion. In 2003, Western Digital created the  first SATA drive that ran at 10,000 rpm (Western Digital).

The Hard drives we are reviewing are to be used with the GA-Z97X-Gaming 7 motherboard, which i have previously reviewed. I would recommend it being used predominately for gaming and professional use. This motherboard supports hard drives that have:

  • Support for RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5, and RAID 10
  • 6 SATA 6Gb/s connectors supporting up to 6 SATA 6Gb/s devices

The WD Green WD40EZRX is a traditional internal hard drive that is manufactured by Western Digital. This Hard drive offers stunning capacity with 4TB of storage capacity. This drive also offers a great 64MB of cache. Users on Newegg described it as being “quiet” and having “silent operation”. This hard drive can be found on newegg for a price of $139.99. Here are some specs for this Hard drive:

Overall this Hard drive has a great bang for your buck. It offers amazing storage and capacity for the price of the hard drive.  Whether you use it as storage for your games or you’re looking for a fantastic drive to use for professional use, this is the one for you.

Solid State Drive

The Western Digital Black² WD1001X06XDTL is an SSD  hard drive also manufactured by Western Digital.  It is a revolutionary drive with 120 GB SSD. On Newegg users of the drive described it as being “Quiet” and “Painless to install.” This drive offers outstanding speeds with amazing storage. This Hard drive can be used to its full potential only on a gamer or professional PC. This hard drive can be found on Newegg at a price of $139.99. Here are some specs for this Hard drive:

  • Size-1TB HDD + 120GB SSD
  • Speed- 5400 RPM
  • Access Time or Latency- 140MB/s
  • Read/write speeds-350MB/s

Overall this drive offers great speeds and capacity for the price it is listed at. Many users have been pleased with the efficiency and use of this drive. If you are looking for an amazing Solid State Drive (SSD) at a great price then this may be the one for you.
I would recommend both of these drives, as they are relatively affordable and fast. They should accomplish most any task a gamer or professional user would need them to as they are quality drives.

The motherboard I am going to tell you about today is the MSI Z97-G45 Gaming. It has a socket of LGA 1150, which means that any CPU socket like that will be able to fit into this motherboard. This motherboard has 4 banks of DDR3 memory that can have up to 32GB at the maximum. With such a large amount of memory you may be able to upgrade your computer to make it faster. This motherboard also has 2 PCI express x16 slots that can hold a new video card that you may want to put into it.

This CPU is the FX-4300 Vishera,made by AMD. A little quick background about the company AMD is;  They are a American Multinational company. There headquarters are located in Sunnyvale, California. They were founded May 1st in 1969, there company didn’t go public, however they didn’t go public until 1972.  They are a well put together company; some of the other products that you can get from them would be: SSD ( Solid State Drivers) Chipsets, Sever processors, Desktop Processors, Laptop/Tablet Processor.
The FX-4300 Vishera would be a good CPU for a simple gamer motherboard. You wouldn’t really need it in a motherboard you would put in your home,  it would be a waste of money, and speed for a home PC.

This company is publicly owned and traded in Taiwan.  This manufacturer of motherboards was established in 1986 by Pei-Cheng Yeh. Gigabytes components are used in many other computer distributors. This motherboard is great for serious gamers. I was very pleased to find such a motherboard at this price. You truly get a good deal with this piece of hardware. Gigabyte is renown for it’s high-end, and all around impressive products. If I was looking for a motherboard that could pack a serious punch, and not take your soul, as well as your wallet, I’d choose this piece of art.
